The incident in Istanbul was gotten on camera and apparently demonstrates the man yelling "those who wear shorts must die".
Security guard Abdullah Cakiroglu, who was not in court, was sent to serve a three year and 10 month imprison sentence for "preventing the practice of freedom of faith, thought and opinion" and intentionally causing damage, the Anadolu news office revealed.
Aysegul Terzi, 24, had told the court how her aggressor yelled she had "no right to live" before kicking her in September a year ago.
"I am frequently crying, I regularly get myself furious, I am frequently feeling like somebody is going to assault me," she revealed to Turkish TV after the incident which sparked public outrage.
At the time, Cakiroglu admitted to media the ambush "was wrong" and said he was experiencing a dysfunctional behavior, having already been determined to have bipolar disorder.
The occurrence stirred general sentiment in Turkey, which is formally a secular nation, provoking road protests with the motto: "Don't touch my shorts!"
